Charlaine Harris Books

Charlaine Harris Books

Vampires, werewolves, ghosts and other things that go bump into the night used to make people feel uneasy as night time falls and darkness spreads. But that was before. Nowadays it seems to be all the rage.

No, I am not joking. Confused now? Well let me ask you, when was the last time that you went to your local bookstore? No, there are no ghosts or vampires lurking there. The answers are on those shelves. You just have to browse and you’ll see for yourself.

I have done that and what I found intrigued me. It seems that the popular thing filling the shelves right now concerns the supernatural and other creatures of the night. Many of those are books by Charlaine Harris.

After that initial introduction to the world of Charlaine Harris’ novels, I went to research other works by the author. To my delight, she has many other books published. Books that I have got to have since I am fast becoming a fan of the author.

I am also into reading her kind of books. Yes, I am one of those geeks who wish they could meet a real vampire in life. But no biting my neck or anywhere, please. I get that joke so much.

So for now I get my share of the supernatural by reading books and add Ms. Harris to my list of authors that I have to thank because of their work . I can’t imagine why I had not discovered Charlaine Harris and her books earlier. Where have I been in the past couple of years? Under a rock perhaps?

As with the other authors who have become a favorite of mine, I did some reading to know more about the popular Charlaine Harris novels. Charlaine Harris started her career writing stories about ghosts, teenage angst, mysteries and eventually she settled to writing a series.

Her first published stand alone work of fiction was a mystery entitled Sweet and Deadly which was published in 1980. It was soon followed by A Secret Rage in 1983. The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries published in 1990 became the first series she made which was soon followed by many others. Lily Bard , Sookie Stackhouse and Harper Connelly are the other female protagonists to her several bestselling series. Go girl power! Charlaine Harris’ novels all have heroines who can give all guys a run for their money, if I may just say so!

Charlaine Harris really caught my attention with her S outhern Vampire Mysteries or more popularly known as T he Sookie Stackhouse Novels , which was named after the female protagonist of the story.

At first I thought it’s going to be another vampire meets human kind of story. They would eventually fall in love with each other and then they would live happily ever after. Quite literally, of course, because obviously the vampire would turn the love of their “eternal life” to another vampire, right?

Well, that’s how it was supposed to be. But I was proven wrong after I read the first book. This was something else. Sure, the vampires in Charlaine Harris’ series are with fangs and all the other prerequisites needed to be a vampire, but the stories themselves prove that it doesn’t fall into the usual norm of a vampire love story.

Novels by Charlaine Harris are a mixture of romance, humor, mystery, action and of course the supernatural. It would never leave you thinking it’s going to be quite a long read. Let me assure you, once you start turning to page one, the story will enthral and encapture your full attention.

Soon you will be at the very last page and craving for more! You might even become one of us , those who wish that these creatures do exist. Or maybe have your neck bitten just for the heck of it. I am just kidding people! I am just trying to make a point that these stories can really get to you.

They don’t necessarily have to have happy endings but nonetheless, the stories are so well written you might even feel that you can relate to the characters.

Before when I heard the words “happily ever after” I thought of fairy tales and stuff, but now the words don’t have the same connotation as they used to. Still don’t have an idea as to what I am saying? Go to your local bookstore (or click the links on this page for Amazon.com) and buy any of the Charlaine Harris books and then come back to me in a week – then we’ll talk!

Hi Cathy thanks for coming by to the site!

Regards more works on Aurora and Lilly Bard. Nothing in the offing I’m afraid. The next book that Charlaine has any involvement with is going to be
“Death’s Excellent Vacation” (expected August 2010) (co-editor with Toni LP Kelner) where she is co-editor.

Sorry there is not more to tell you.

Kind regards
Joseph
